Abstract

ORIGUELA, MILENA AVELANEDA  and  SILVA, CINTHIA LOPES DA. TV show sports: implications to the training of the physical education professional. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.1, pp.83-98. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v22n1p83-98.

This study aimed at analyzing the sport broadcast on television and identify possible implications of this social phenomenon for the vocational training in physical education. As a methodological procedure, a literature review with a qualitative approach was conducted with a focus on Sociology, Anthropology and Physical Education authors with a socio-cultural reference. At the end of the analysis, it was identified that the media broadcasts the high performance sports model, and this seems to be the only reference to be followed by Physical Education students who, when focusing on sports as a practice and as leisure, may acquire fundamental knowledge to the culture of body movement. So it is essential that students have access to debates on the differences between face to face sports and the TV show sports, as well as the basic elements and categories to analyze the TV show sports, and this may occur through a specific discipline or through the different curricular disciplines.

Keywords : SPORTS; TELEVISION; EDUCATION; PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING.
