Abstract

HONORATO, TONY. School Models for Teacher Training in the State of São Paulo (1897-1921): Power According to Norbert Elias. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.2, pp.123-136. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v22n2p123-136.

From the interaction between empirical reality and the concept of power proposed by Norbert Elias, the purpose of this paper is to discuss the concomitant existence of two models of teacher training in the State of São Paulo/Brazil: the “complementarist” and the “normalist” ones (1897-1921). Such models were not antagonistic dualities, but producers of human and teaching interdependent relationships. As historical sources, there are the legal instruments of the public instruction of São Paulo and printed documents from the school administration.

Keywords : TEACHER TRAINING; SCHOOL; POWER; SÃO PAULO.
