Abstract

GUIZZO, BIANCA SALAZAR  and  GOMES, JOÃO CARLOS AMIBILIA. The Media’s Teachings about Contemporary Family Configurations: Homoparenting Representations. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.2, pp.137-148. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v22n2p137-148.

This study aims at discussing how homoparenting is being represented in the media. For that purpose, a few articles published in the press and virtual media on this subject in 2012 were selected. For the sake of analysis, some contributions from Cultural, Gender and Visual Culture studies were used, especially those that approach the post-struc turalist analysis. Such fields of study are productive since they consider that contemporary identities are (re) created continuously within certain cultures, in the context of power relations. The results showed that if homoparenting representations have more space in the media, on the other hand, they are still traversed by discourses that addresses homoparenting as exotic and/or “less normal” than hetero parenting.

Keywords : CULTURAL STUDIES; GENDER STUDIES; HOMOPARENTING.
