Abstract

GOMES, LUIZ ROBERTO. CRITICAL THEORY OF EDUCATION: current experiences of research in Brazil and Germany. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.3, pp.145-154. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v22n3p145-154.

The critical theory of society, such as Max Horkheimer argued in 1937 in “Traditional and Critical Theory”, is based on two basic principles of social theory: the critical behavior and the orientation towards emancipation. These principles provide the basic perspective of critical theory of education, according to Theodor W. Adorno analysis – for instance in Theorie der Halbbildung and the essays collected in Erziehung zur Mündigkeit. This paper presents some thoughts based on researches recently carried out in Brazil and Germany.

Keywords : CRITICAL THEORY OF EDUCATION; THEODOR ADORNO; BRAZIL; GERMANY.
