Abstract

TOMMASIELLO, MARIA GUIOMAR CARNEIRO; ROCHA, ERILDA MARQUES PEREIRA DA  and  BERGAMASHI, ELÂNIA MARIA MARQUES. The Environmental Education as transversal theme in secondary education in perspective of teachers. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.esp, pp.35-64. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v22n2ep35-64.

The transversal themes were introduced in the National Curricular Parameters for Fundamental Education in 1997, not as areas of specific knowledge, but as content to be taught within of the established areas. The National Curriculum Guidelines for Secondary Education (Resolution CNE/CP nº 2 of 30 january 2012) the Environmental Education is a compulsory curricular component also being worked as transversal way. In the Curricular Guidelines for Environmental Education (Resolution nº 2 of 15 june 2012) the incorporation of environmental education should be given: i) by the transversal way; ii) as a content of discipline or iii) a combination of the two. The objective of the work is to present data from an empirical research which proposal was to investigate the implementation of the guidelines in secondary schools in two Brazilian states – Minas Gerais e Goiás –, from the perspective of teachers. Teachers generally unaware the guidelines of the official documents. The inclusion of transversal theme Environmental Education comes down to a few projects carried out in schools, outside the classroom, such as garden, composting, recycling, science fairs. The transversal themes are another failed attempt of articulation between disciplines, to continue the current working conditions of teachers, the inadequate training, lack of resources and endeavors to ensure the implementation of the guidelines and its continuity.
