FERREIRA, NADJA  y  TRISTAO, MARTHA. Environmental education in dialogue with Paulo Freire, Edgar Morin and Boaventura de Sousa Santos: meaning of socio-environmental practices of instituting movement of collective self-training. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.esp, pp.137-163. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v22n2ep137-163.

The paper aims to present some significant ideas about Environmental Education. A doctoral research inspired these ideas and they are articulated with the political-pedagogical thinking of the educator Paulo Freire, and they dialogue with the philosopher Edgar Morin and the sociologist Boaventura de Sousa Santos. We are committed not only with the possibility of dialogue with these authors, but mainly with the power of some of their ideas/concepts/ notions of environmental education field, always based on non-reductionist principles. It’s a proper movement, an ecology of knowledges, which holds no claim to “discredit” the sciences. In fact, this movement aims to create the possibility for science to participate in a broader ecology of knowledge. Accordingly, dialogue is established with subjects of community-school-district from establishing movement of collective self-training, observing the practices of teachers of Youth and Adults Education (YAE). These practices bring itself the principles of environmental education. Environmental education is present in Youth and Adult Education, even when it is not so perceived / named and has raised practices of a school facing a reflective, critical and emancipatory practice in this type of education.
