Abstract

This paper introduces a intertextual dialogue between two works of prominence in the contemporary film, Holy Motors and Cosmopolis. The highlights recurring themes in film works, such as shielding in contemporary social, the ambivalence between the desire for freedom and security, plus the search for a more protection in the technological era. The authors used figurative scenes and clippings of the two filmic texts to illuminate the phenomena of the contemporary, from the reading of two metropolises - Paris and New York - the intriguing vision of two directors, David Cronenberg and Leos Carax.
