Abstract

VIANA, Iêda. The municipal teaching network of Curitiba and its relationships with the urbanization process: the materiality of school space. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2016, vol.23, n.3, pp.55-73. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v23n3p55-73.

The changes in the historiography of education allowed the displacement of a macro analysis of the school to a look at its intramural, considered as territory of production of its own culture, but without neglecting the social context. This reorientation resulted, among other readings, in the approach to the plan of school material culture, whose analysis refers, among other dimensions, to the framework of the school space and the instruments that support educational practices. This article, by its exploratory scope, establishes as a general objective to perform a contextualized analysis of the implementation of the municipal public education network of Curitiba in its relations with the urbanization process and with a focus on the materiality of school spaces . The research is based on the historical method, using official documents and literature on the subject. The information obtained allows to infer a solid articulation between the education and the broader policies of the municipality that are revealed in the form of appropriation of the school space and in the educative practices that contribute to guide the social and cultural development of the city, from the years 1960 to 1980.
