Abstract

MATOS, Diulha Matos de; CARDOSO, Ana Lucia  and  ORTIGARA, Vidalcir. PIBID in physical education teachers training: expectation and reality. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2016, vol.23, n.3, pp.113-126. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v23n3p113-126.

The goal of the present study was to assess the Institutional Program for Teaching Initiation Scholarships (PIBID) of the Extremo Sul Catarinense University (UNESC), in order to understand students’ motivation to participate in this program. The study was conducted with twenty one physical education scholarship students who answered a questionnaire. We carried out a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data based on authors that discuss public policies and teacher training in Brazil. We found that the students applied for the program to obtain the scholarships; however, they also sought to enhance their theoretical and practical studies, in order to qualify their teacher training. The PIBID also contributed to increased integration between the university and the public school, which led to a qualitative change in the initial training and teachers’ continuing education.
