ROMARIO, Lucas  e  DORZIAT, Ana. Deaf teachers: teaching, formation and deaf pedagogy. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2016, vol.23, n.3, suppl., pp.287-309. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v23nespp287-309.

This article presents the preliminary results of a dissertational work, which aims to analyze the work of three Deaf Teachers who performed the Specialized Educational Service (SES) for deaf students in regular public schools in João Pessoa-PB. Inspired by the Education Cultural Studies and Deaf Studies, we assume that the educational process for Deaf people is more qualified when shared by both Deaf teachers and students. Using the non-participant observation as the main research technique, we obtained data that ratified our assumption: they showed that daily contact between Deaf teachers and Deaf students allows exchange of life experiences, stories of struggle of the Deaf community, language learning, indispensable aspects for building identities. In this process, we see that sign language is essential but not sufficient for the surveyed Deaf teachers exercise teaching. It was necessary a formation based on Deaf Pedagogy, in which curriculum were more broadly designed, considering Deaf culture and difference as central axes
