CAMARGO, Evani Amaral; ARAUJO, Daniel Paz de; HILDEBRAND, Hermes Renato  e  LEOTE, Rosangela da Silva. Assistive technologies in art-education classes: digital and physical interfaces. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2016, vol.23, n.3, suppl., pp.335-349. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v23nespp335-349.

The aim of this paper is to discuss the use of assistive technologies to understand and aid individuals with neurological disorders who are unable to interact through oral language and that can make use of computational interfaces for their communication. The discussion of the use of these tools to the process of cognition, learning and teaching is based on the cultural historical perspective, observing emerging technologies through its contemporary digital resources. To do so, interfaces have been developed, particularly those that detect eye movements to analyze the processes of interaction of people in art education. These are low-cost computer interfaces and aim at developing tools to facilitate the communication process between teacher and students with neurological disorders through art education. Results show that each subject needs an adaptation of technology to benefit from the use of the interface, which increases their possibility of interaction and appropriation of cultural goods as well as specific knowledge of the discipline in question. This project is being developed by several researchers in their academic institutions, thus being characterized as an interdisciplinary project.
