Abstract

This study aims to reveal the knowledge produced in dissertations and theses on Brazilian challenges and education opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID) in regular school environments. The methodology used was systematic review and data collection took place in the Brazilian Digital Library Database of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) between the years 2008 and 2014, through descriptors that is directly related to intellectual disability. The results showed 103 academic productions, whose main findings were: a) large number of qualitative research and b) involvement of teachers who work in public classrooms of regular public schools. The researchers, these productions have focused on the learning process and pointed learning school subjects for students with ID. In this sense, the lifting of productions provided an opportunity to obtain contributions concerning the possibility of school inclusion with regard to access, retention and learning, provided that structural and pedagogical changes in the school environment.
