Abstract

WOLFFENBUTTEL, Cristina Rolim; LOPES, Sílvia da Silva  and  DA ROSA, Helenice Paula Verde. Teaching experiences in dance and folklore in youth and adult education. Rev. Educ. e Cult. Contemp. [online]. 2018, vol.15, n.40, pp.115-141.  Epub July 22, 2018. ISSN 2238-1279.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2238-1279.20180050.

This article presents two teaching experiences in Youth and Adult Education. One of the experiences occurred during the degree Dance curricular intership in a state public school in Montenegro/RS. In this experience, the trainee student developed the specific contents of her area, giving the students the perception of their own bodies, relating the movements that occurred in their daily lives to the qualities of movements based on Laban. Considering the current educational context of relatively little provision of body activities in Youth and Adult Education, the experience with teaching in dance has proved challenging and contributory for students of this modality of teaching. The second experience was developed by an already trained teacher, having taken place in the Arts discipline, in a municipal public school in Porto Alegre/RS. The objective was to denature some established standards in relation to folklore, as something worthless, related to the old-fashioned and, thus, unused. It was structured as a project developed in the classroom during a semester. The focus was on the rescue of folklore, particularly in tales and legends, with the theoretical reference being the understanding of concepts of folklore and folklore in school, which are mainstreamed in the education and education of youths and adults. It is understood that, in presenting and discussing both teaching experiences, one in dance and the other in folklore/culture, it is possible to point out limits and possibilities for the advancement of Youth and Adult Education.
