MWEWA, Christian Muleka  e  MENDES, Ana Paula Leão. Social control and ethno-racial mediations in Quanto Vale ou é Por Quilo? Sérgio Bianchi. Rev. Educ. e Cult. Contemp. [online]. 2018, vol.15, n.40, pp.251-273.  Epub 12-Abr-2018. ISSN 2238-1279.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2238-1279.20180056.

Through the analysis of the film Quanto Vale ou é Por Quilo?, Sergio Bianchi (2005) aim to explain and understand the prejudice of the construction process and discrimination in Brazilian society. Our theoretical frameworks move between studies of sociology area, cultural studies and anthropology, especially Kabengele Munanga. The research is characterized as a bibliographic review and document analysis, once we take the film as a document. Our analyzes indicate that the cultural-historical heritage announced in the letter of Pero Vaz de Caminha, for example, remains effective in Brazilian society and acts as a tool of social control today. These tools are explained in the film in question. Said mixing promoted by prejudice masks social inequalities, especially in ethnic and racial dimensions, as these also serve as a reference of social relations in Brazilian society.
