This paper discusses the formation and development of scientific concepts in school. Its goal is to analyze some theoretical contributions, about the formation and development of scientific concepts, in a relation with the process of conceptual elaboration in the teaching of History. It is bibliographical work and based on the Cultural-Historical perspective and Historical Learning that has allowed glimpsing the process of teaching and learning, built on the conceptual development collaborates to promote learning and development of students. For the level of education to which they relate (in the early years of elementary school), the aim is to acquaint the student with the attributes of the concept, from the area of History, selected for study. It is presented a proposal of activity to be applied in the starter years of elementary school, which considers the familiarity with concepts and attributes of the school subject. This production helps to emphasize the formative potentialities of History strengthening its presence in the school curriculum.
