This study is about Freire's assumptions, between 1964 and 1980, which passes through curriculum action and pedagogical practice. The historical and dialectical method is adopted to understand the set of Freire's work, individually written in exile, in its historicity and that characterizes ontological concept, method of analysis and praxis. It is a bibliographic research, has as main question the critical analysis of the conceptions and categories, constructed by Freire in his first works that involve curricular process and practice. It concludes the curriculum practices found in Freire's work are the action of reality appropriation (knowledge and awareness), the creation to be in life through the existential situation (overcoming), and systematization of experienced knowledge with theory (culture).
