This paper aims to present the participation of the state of Miranda, Venezuela situated in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2010, in its special edition called PISA 2009 PLUS. On this occasion, the main area Reading analysis was, however, also assessed mathematics and science, as has been occurring every three years since 2000, since these are the three areas of evaluation. Although it is not the only instrument, the OECD takes student performance on these tests as the benchmark for quality in education. Thus, assessing the statistical data based on a theoretical framework envisions cast an eye on the quality and on educational evaluation in the country, confirming thus that based on a critical reading of the same you can think of any educational problems. Confronting and overcoming certain situations, is through the development and implementation of educational policies aimed not only equitable access of all people to the education system, but also its quality stay at school. Well, we start from the understanding that the right to quality education is not off the scope of social policies in which education is closely related since the socioeconomic and cultural context has a major impact on the performance achieved by the students.
