Abstract

BARBOSA, Maria Carmen Silveira  and  RICHTER, Sandra Simonis. Training of teachers for basic education: tension between limits and possibilities. Rev. Educ. e Cult. Contemp. [online]. 2018, vol.15, n.41, pp.31-53.  Epub Oct 15, 2018. ISSN 2238-1279.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2238-1279.20180068.

This essay deals with the relationship between teacher education for Basic Education and different philosophical concepts that act as intercessors in discourses and in the openness to the possibility of promoting fissures in the hegemonic ways of understanding and realizing the initial formation of teachers. The interlocution with Hannah Arendt, Paul Ricoeur, Martha Nussbaum and Gert Biesta allows to update the understanding of human formation as an embodied attitude in collective and singular paths; to reposition propositions that seek to overcome the oscillation of emphasis in theory or practice; to maintain that teaching requires "becoming a presence" because it is a relational profession; to consider politics and ethics as lived and meaningful life in the formative experience itself in the higher education since the encounter with the alterity, the recognition of the diversity and the responsibility with the others by the common world. The conclusion is that teacher training directed to the educational activity with infants, children and young people could acquire new contours from the tension between ideology and utopia as creation of another pedagogical imaginary committed both to the resumption of conceptual and integrative strength of the school, in its dimension of social space of the public sphere, as well as with the creative responsibility of imagining contexts of life and educational experience materialized in the teaching action.
