BARBOSA, Carlos Soares; SOUZA, José Carlos Lima de  e  LINO, Lucilia Augusta. The article aims to analyze the teachers initial formation for the Education of Young and Adults (EJA) in the course of Degree in Pedagogy of m University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), Campus Maracanã, as well as the mediations that determine the internal disputes in the current moment in which the Institutions of Higher Education are reformulating their courses of degrees in order to comply with the norms established by current politics of teacher education - Resolution CNE n. 02/2015. It is a historical-documentary research that aims to analyze the process of consolidation of the studies of the EJA in the curricular design of the referred course, recognizing the quality education a right of all, including young people, adults and seniors. Given the current context of dismantling social policies, withdrawal of rights and setbacks in the educational field with the resumption of the neoliberal agenda in the country, the study highlights the importance of educational institutions in the defense of the quality teacher formation. It is based on authors of Freirean and critical-emancipatory matrix, and concludes that the UERJ has sought to train pedagogues that are not limited to the office of teaching in Early Childhood Education or in the initial grades of Elementary Education, but able to formulate, to manage, to monitor and to evaluate youth and adult education projects of the meaning of the learning along the life. This materializes in a curricular matrix with disciplines that approach the learning built both in school spaces and in other contexts of human formation, based on the theory-practice articulation.
