This research was aimed at investigating the social representation of continuing formation constructed by teachers who worked in public pre-schools of Rio de Janeiro that offered this formation in their own school. &e social representations theory was the main theoretical framework and data was collected by a test of free evocation of words with hierarchy and justifications, observations, interviews and focal groups. Results indicated that the teachers seem to objectify the representation of continuing formation in exchange of knowledge and anchor it in the teaching practices.
