Resumen

This study aimed at identifying and analyzing the social memories and representations concerning the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Mato Grosso (IFMT), campus Cuiabá. Free associations were requested to 260 participants and the data analysis was based on the structural approach of social representations. #e results revealed the meaning of school institution for the subjects changed, when past and present times were compared. Such results confirm the role of social practices in the processes of changes in the representations and also show the trend of evaluating past time as better than present time.
