Abstract

SEMERARO, Giovanni. A “utopia” do Estado Ético em Gramsci e nos movimentos populares. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2011, vol.20, n.44, pp.465-480. ISSN 2238-2097.

Based on the political action of Brazilian popular movements concerning the State, this article presents a study of the concept of “ethical State” at the thought of Antonio Gramsci. So, in these pages is possible to find a new configuration of de State outlined by this author with a different and opposed conception in front of liberal theories of State and the development of a original thought that dialogues with different authors, in particular, Rousseau, Hegel and Marx, with whom Gramsci is deeply connected. Besides presenting the new proposal of Gramsci, the text points out, above all, the need to build an “ethical-political State” to achieve democracy in Brazil, a country that have many social, political and educational actions of the popular movements.
