The aim of this article is to reflect upon a research process carried out with an NGO in the city of Curitiba (Paraná - Brazil) which is active in a variety of social and educational projects. There is presented the methodological process of a research project marked by its participatory character, together with some immediate results for the institutional process of evaluation and education. The description of the process is followed by an analysis of research as a social practice, in as much as it participates in the construction of meanings purposes; a political practice while the production of knowledge implies ethical and political decisions; and a pedagogical practice which promotes relations integrated with the learning-teaching of being humans.
