OLIVEIRA, Graciela da Silva; TOLENTINO NETO, Luiz Caldeira Brant  y  BIZZO, Nelio. Atitudes de estudantes mato-grossenses frente à Ciência e à evolução biológica. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.45, pp.147-167. ISSN 2238-2097.

In this article, we present the relationship between public students in Tangará da Serra-MT and science classes, as well as the students’ attitudes towards the theory of biological evolution. In 2007, 294 students were interviewed using an international questionnaire (ROSE Project) and data analysis was done using SPSS 15.0. The study revealed that youngsters, of both sexes and age group of 15 years, acknowledge the importance of science, but are uninterested in science as a profession. The students accept biological evolution topics that support this theory yet they demonstrate rejection sentiments towards the origin of the Earth and Human Beings.

Palabras clave : Biological Evolution; Secondary School; Science Teaching; Student Interest.
