Abstract The article presents the Anthology of Afro-Brazilian Poetry: 150 years of Black Awareness in Brazil which came out in 2011 by Mazza, publishers from Belo Horizonte. It emphasizes the predominant tendency of the poets of the last 20 years to build up a relational identity, and also the considerable increase in number of female poets, particularly the works of Conceição Evaristo, Leda Maria Martins and Ana Cruz.
