Abstract This paper aims to show how the gender concept may be useful to understand central questions of the educational agenda and practice. It discusses briefly the gender concept and the argument is developed around the example of children’s notebooks. We’re aware that many other aspects should be discussed and our intention is just suggest a way of thinking teacher´s work incorporating gender concept. We defend the urgency of new research about gender relations in schools, specially going beyond questions around sexuality and sexual education, as a part of a new approach to teacher’s practice and teacher´s education.
