MARTINS, Francine de Paulo  and  ANDRE, Marli Eliza Dalmazo Afonso de. Teaching at the early childhood education: gender and style. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.47, pp.489-503. ISSN 2238-2097.

Abstract This research aimed at knowing how the teacher activity, in a municipal preschool, has been developed. The data gathering procedures included: observation, documentary analysis, as well as interview and questionnaire. The results showed that the teacher activity at the EMEI take into account the Curricular Guideline, as well as the Multiple Intelligence Theory. These prescriptions changed the school planning and teacher´s activity and generated uncertainty about the new ways of acting, revealing the contradictions at the work. In the situations where the prescribed fails, the teacher searches, in the professional gender, new possibilities of acting, recreating them by means of personal style.

Keywords : Teacher Activity; Preschool Education; Gender; Style.
