Abstract Anchored on readings from a documental device − republican foremost governments posts and the directors of public instruction reports −, the work grounded in historical and comparative method applied to history and history of education was directed to an observation point: the interdependencies of political, economic, social and educational system that comprised the societal system of Rio Grande do Norte (1890-1911) and determined that, ultimately, the ruling elites to structure the School Group Model ‟Augusto Severo” in the capital Natal, as well as creating a network of different graduate schools.
