The scientific olympics are referred to as a competition designed to test the knowledge of talented high school students. Researchers engaged in psychological studies are concerned about the post-competition impact offered by Olympics on the students’ behavior at school. This study focused on the perception of high school teachers regarding the actual effects of Chemistry Olympics of Minas Gerais State (COMGS; Brazil) on their students. Besides the competition factor, it was observed that COMGS motivated participating students to study more and more chemistry. Accordingly, the yield learning in classroom dramatically improved. High school teachers from Minas Gerais State believe that the COMGS is an activity that significantly draws the attention of students to chemistry.
