Abstract

Guided by the Theory of Social Representations this study has identified meanings about child and identity representations of teaching. It has favored analysis of meanings assigned to the child, according to 252 first grade students of Pedagogy course of three brazilian universities. The analysed data refer to the associations of words to the termination child (software EVOC) and the analysis of content articulated with the open questions, submitted to lexical analysis. The data reveal the small and naïf child whose ludical expressivity articulates to the learning and cognitive development. Child was associated to non-familiar and to possible identity threat, the one that escapes and has to be modeled.
