Abstract

This paper debates strategies to guarantee the rights of sick children, in particular the ones related to play and education. It presents an overview of the rights of Brazilian children and adolescent since the Constitutional Law, the Unified Health System and the Child and Adolescent Statutes and discusses the changes made and the challenges still to be faced. It presents the value of play as related to the sick child care and the Brazilian policies related to the education of sick children. The conclusions point that, despite the Brazilian good and important experiences related to the rights of the hospitalized child, there are still challenges to reach.
