Abstract

CASTILHO, Suely Dulce de. Black families in school education in quilombola rural context. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.50, pp.745-762. ISSN 2238-2097.

This article aims to demystify concepts about black families (rural - and from working class) for their reckleness, abnormality and lack of interest in school education. The results of this research shows that those families that took part of this survey see the school as the unique possibility of splitting up with this professional and economical cycle of social disqualification, as they see the same old story being repeated again and again, for several generations, in their family group. As a result, they have deposited at school all the hope, and they invest within their possibilities - from their limited income and limited resources - to ensure the schooling of their descendent

Keywords : Education; Family; Quilombo.
