We presents the final results of post-doctoral research, whose theme is the history of Portuguese language teaching in Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), analyzed from a study of a curriculum proposals for this school between 1977 and 2008. From the results, we can summarize: in MS the curriculum proposals of Portuguese language are in line with the time they were produced and are with the speechedge over the teaching of this language, however, that it regulate the education politic is always exhaustive, given the issues external to the educational process and not the needs built in to the school routine.
