Abstract

The paper discusses senses of practice, in relation to senses of theory, in teacher education policy. In dialogue with the Cycle of Policies proposed by Stephen Ball, the paper focuses on: documents of the National Council of Education, which proposes reforming teacher education courses; interviews with teachers of Biological Sciences Degrees; and curriculum documents of courses. In the analysis, aware of the traditional and innovative elements, it evidences senses of practice produced in relation to the subject area specificities and to the school culture, composing recontextualized, hybrid and ambivalent discourses, which allows heterogeneous readings and subversive actions.
