This study aimed to traverse the constitution of science museums by centuries XVII to XXI, without pretending to exhaust the subject, understanding that these institutions produce discourses about science and education. The most obvious changes in these spaces relate to public access, the thematic specialization, how to expose the objects and the way of conceiving the relationship public-museum. Scientific discourse conveyed by these institutions discloses the superiority of science knowledge to others. The discourse on education in these areas reflects a conception beyond school education because these places are associated with cultural background of individuals.
