Abstract

LOPES, Edinéia Tavares. Sujeitos indígenas Bakairi: como se apresentam e como são vistos nos ambientes escolares. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.54, pp.807-829. ISSN 2238-2097.

This research aimed to examine how Bakairi are viewed and how they present themselves at school events in the city of Paranatinga-MT. The Bakairi, during the few possibilities of being seen at schools or civic events, reinforce their Indian-Brazilian identity through the characteristics they believe, the Bakairi and the Karaiwa, so as to be the original Indian. There is a big offset between indigenous and non-indigenous students school children in the municipality where the Bakairi live. One brings to a conclusion that the Bakairi people see/present themselves or are seen as Indians, whereas civilized and Indian-civilized.
