This paper has its focus on the relationship between children and the digital culture so as to discuss the multiple faces of contemporary childhood and the new ludic and cultural practices facing the changes on the places children take, their interactions, identities and subjectivities. The reflection is based on different researches with and about children and digital culture, their media practices in and out of school, and the possibilities for mediation. Facing the media protagonism in different places, we try to highlight some challenges for education in this new scenario.
