The article identifies aspects of the theories of school administration in Rio de Janeiro city between 1922 and 1935 based on the analyses of their respective books, O ensino na capital do Brasil, Novos caminhos e novos fins and Edu cação pública: administração e desenvolvimento. Studies contend these books made it possible a general overview of the knowledge base of school administration in Rio de Janeiro in the management of Carneiro Leão, Fernando de Azevedo and Anísio Teixeira. The historiogra phy studies offered the analytical elements for the investigation of the scholar administration conditions in country and permitted to iden tify constitution process of the it self rational-bureaucratic model.
