Abstract

WANDERER, Fernanda. Mathematics education, regulatory processes and the Escola Ativa Program. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.61, pp.201-221. ISSN 2238-2097.  https://doi.org/10.5965/01045962v26n612017221.

The paper aims to analyze the mathematics education produced by the Escola Ativa Program (in Portuguese, Programa Escola Ativa - PEA). Its theoretical framework consists of Ethnomatematics in a perspective that articulates the thought of Michel Foucault’s with Ludwig Wittgenstein’s later work. Were examined the Mathematics’s books used by te achers and students from the perspective of the Foucault’s discourse analysis. The examination of this material showed that the PEA is a regu latory mechanism of the whole of the peasant population that acts on the conduct of tea chers and students and also on own children’s thinking, producing specific subjectivities for school subjects.

Keywords : Mathematics Education; Escola Ativa Program; Peasant Multigrade Schools; Regulation.
