Abstract

LUCIANO, Gersem José dos Santos. Language, education and interculturality from an indigenous perspective. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.62, pp.295-310. ISSN 2238-2097.  https://doi.org/10.5965/01045962v26n622017310.

This article tries to make some analytical con siderations about the place of the indigenous languages in the cosmologies and the contem porary life of the indigenous people. It em phasizes the cosmopolitan and transcendental importance of language in the interconnection of humans with nonhumans in the plane of the different worlds and beings that co-inhabit it. In this sense, it also highlights the need to value the traditional pedagogical means in the valuation of indigenous languages, by means of orality and the role of the elders, as well as the proper and radical appropriation of the school for this same purpose, overcoming its strongly colonialist tendency, Eurocentric and branqueocentric.

Keywords : Indigenous Peoples; Indigenous Languages; Indigenous Cultures; Indigenous Cosmologies.
