The Social Representations Theory (SRT) has been contributed significantly in education field in Brazil. Recent works point to the study of the anchoring of representations as a way of advancing knowledge, allowing a more integra ted view of SRs with their historical and cultural context. Thus, the text examines the anchoring process, describing the forms of its study by the three SRT classic approaches: socio-genetic, po sitional and structural approach. The text also highlights studies in education field that sought to study the anchoring and the type of responses or educational problems which are addressed.
