Abstract

In the first decades of the twentieth century, the issue of education has been presented by the municipal government of Pelotas, located in Rio Grande do Sul, in their Intendentials Reports, that intends to present the results of the governmental actions during a year. From the 1910 decade, they started to have photogra phs about different themes, included municipal schools. This paper’s objective is analyzing the role of the primary education in the Inten dentials Reports. We realize that the primary education was integrated to these themes and that happened in relation to the hygienist and the concernment to the citizenship formation.
