Abstract

SILVA, Carlos Benedito Rodrigues da. Black movement and the struggles against racism. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.65, suppl.2, pp.613-634. ISSN 2238-2097.  https://doi.org/10.29286/rep.v27i65/2.6886.

I intend to present in this article, a brief analy sis on the trajectories of the black movement in Brazil, making considerations about the mecha nisms applied, individually or collectively by the Brazilian blacks in the confrontation with the discriminatory practices. In the first moment, I try to analyze the organizational process of this movement in its specificities in the contesto of the social movements. Subsequently, I will make considerations about the activities of acti vists of the black social movement state bodies, and the dialogues established for the definition of policies to combat racism. I conclude with some considerations on institutional racism as an obstacle to the implementation of affirma tive public policies and compliance with Law 10.639 / 03 that determines the introduction of the teaching of African and Afro-Brazilian cultures in the Brazilian educational system.

Keywords : Black Movement; Political Participation; Black Resistance; Institutional Racism.
