The article includes conceptual and methodological elements that guide the line of research on the formation of teachers of natural sciences, from the Perspectivas de investigación en educación en ciencias - PiEnCias - PiEnCias. The professional insertion is one of the topics that we develop to understand the relationship between teacher formation and research. The results obtained with preservice teacher and beginning teacher, show the need to conduct studies, where participants can learn to make decisions and recognize themselves as members of an academic community that has as a challenge, continuously improve their teaching practice and, therefore, contribute in your own professional development.
