This article is the result of a theoretical-bibliographic and documentary research, in which the achievements and setbacks in the field of public policies for teacher education and valorization in the present time are analyzed. It aims to point out the necessary agendas to resist the setbacks and to announce the possibilities of progress made. It is also intended to indicate the challenges to be faced. In order to do so, it adopts the orientation of dialectical historical materialism, which allows to apprehend, to reveal and to present the contradictions of concrete reality.
