The text aims to understand the trends and gaps present in dissertations and theses (D & T) on the formation of Biology teachers in Brazil. Based on a critical and exploratory perspective, the D & T abstracts were analyzed in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), with the following keywords: Teacher formation and Biology Teaching. The 99 papers, which composed the corpus researched, were analyzed in terms of: geographic and institutional distribution of scientific production and methodological aspects of research; and the recurrence and silencing of research on the formation of Biology teachers in Brazil.
