In the teaching profession there are different contexts that integrate the formative trajectory, among which the initial formation stands out. Reflecting on the training offered in Mathematics Degree courses highlights their potentialities and limitations, as well as the repercussion of this academic training in professional practice. In this study, the objective was to present considerations about the gaps arising from the training offered in the Degree in Mathematics. Methodologically, it is characterized as a theoretical essay. Considerations of nine shortcomings were presented. It is hoped that the results will allow reflections on the need to guarantee professional benchmarks in the training of mathematics teachers.
