Abstract

The article, divided into two parts, addresses the challenges of linking archives to education. First, it traces a historiographical panorama in education in order to highlight the ways in which the field of history of education in Brazil approached the discussions on memory, heritage and school culture, with attention to the materiality of school practices and the education of sensibility. Next, it discusses the archiving practices in education, from four axes: archives and material culture; relationship between playful and routine; reconciliation between part and whole; and desire for memory. As a final comment, it questions the risks of the “presentism” that invades contemporary culture.
