Abstract

JOVCHELOVITCH, Sandra. A socio-genetic approach to the central core of social representations: the case of the Brazilian public sphere. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2020, vol.29, e10485.  Epub May 25, 2020. ISSN 2238-2097.  https://doi.org/10.29286/rep.v29ijan/dez.10485.

The study aims to demonstrate how time and patterns of transmission and communication inscribe themselves in the internal organization of social representations. For this purpose, it presents a discussion of the role of the central core of representations in relation to continuity and change in ideas and public spheres. Jean-Claude Abric’s insights on the internal structure of representational fields contribute to the proposition of an expanded theory of the central core that rests on a dialogue with narrative theory, dialogicality and recent advances in the knowledge of cognitive polyphasia. In other words, the paper leads the reader into a socio-genetic approach to the central core, one that seeks to elucidate how the socio-cognitive organization of social representations is shaped and at the same time shapes continuity and change in public spheres.

Keywords : Social Representation; Central Core; Narrative; Dialogicality; Cognitive Polyphasia.
