Abstract

ESCOTT, Clarice Monteiro. Professional and Technological Education: advances, setbacks and resistance in the search for an integral human education. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2020, vol.29, e11145.  Epub Oct 21, 2020. ISSN 2238-2097.  https://doi.org/10.29286/rep.v29ijan/dez.11145.

Presents the reflections held at SEMIEDU 2019: Professional Education: New Directions. It contextualizes such ideas in the scenario of the implementation of public policies for the Federal Institutes (IF), which break with the structural duality: propaedeutic education aimed at the elites and education for work for the poor. We perform a historical analysis of the EPT in Brazil and the conceptions that constitute the basis of dual education and integral human education, considering Integrated High School as a paradigm shift in EPT. It denounces the fallacy of the current Brazilian government discourse on the new directions of high school and the return of dual education.

Keywords : Professional and Technological Education; Federal Institutes; Integrated High School; Integral Human Formation.
